of 5 stars Good thing it's metal , July 13, 2004 Reviewer: Scott A. Byers (San
Antonio, TX United States) I purchased the RhinoSkin Aluminum Hard Case for my
iPAQ 1945. The iPAQ fits nice and snug in the case leaving access to the voice
recorder & IR port, headphone jack, microphone, SD card, sylus, as well as the
port for recharging and synching. I also like the insert that holds an extra SD
card inside the cover. What I do not like about the case is the belt clip with
screw-in post. With the repeated motion of sitting and standing throughout the
day, the screw-in post has a tendency to loosen itself from the case. Three
times since I purchased it in June the iPAQ has fallen off the clip. One fall
sending the iPAQ in an armored ride down half a flight of stairs. Another fall
causing the SD card residing in the slot to be lost (but that's a different
review). No significant damage has occurred...yet. For the most part it is a
good design, but how much protection does a case provide if it is causing the
falls that it is supposed to be protecting against. I recommend not using the
clip, but if you do, make sure you habitually check the tightness of the post. I
suppose you could permanently affix the post, but then you will not be able to
lay the iPAQ flat unless you take it out of the case. Decisions, decisions...
Was this review helpful to you? 2 out of 5 stars Attractive But Cumbersome ,
June 29, 2004 Reviewer: An electronics fan (Boston, MA United States) Nifty case
but VERY difficult to use the PDA while it's in the case with the front open --
especially if you're left-handed and have normal- to large-sized fingers.
There's simply no way to comfortably and securely get a grip on the case with
one hand because the front doesn't fold back. I'd recommend Rhinoskin's leather
case for IPAQ 1900 Series PDAs (00366). Was this review helpful to you? 5 of 5
people found the following review helpful: 3 out of 5 stars Good case, but
beware the belt clip , January 25, 2004 Reviewer: yrad84 (NJ United States) Let
me start off by saying that this case fit very well with my iPaq 1945. It leaves
all the essential plugs accessable, however it does cover the soft reset button,
although depending on how often you need to reset the pda, it may or may not get
annoying to take out the pda everytime it needs to be done (And with a Windows
based OS, it does happen). Don't trust the belt clip, it fell off the first day
I used it, even after I heard the snap that confirms that it is in securely.
Ended up bending the case so that i have to unbend it everytime I want to open
it. Now I have to ship it back, which of course means I lose the money for
shipping. I'll probably invest in a different case since I don't see the point
of a metal case if it gets ruined once it falls off. Was this review helpful to

case without adding too much thickness , December 30, 2003 Reviewer: mingkee
(Brooklyn, NY United States) the case is like adding a "shell" on my ipaq h1945
this is a very good product, and don't add too much thickness but there may be
problem for the users use right finger to tap, and carry under cold weather with
bare hand (because the case is aluminum, which transfers heat/cold) overall,
this is a must for ipaq 1900 series users note: belt clip with attaching screw

Reviewer: An electronics fan (Kingwood, Texas United States) I heartily agree
with the sentiments of the reviewer from Tennessee. Wished I had seen his review
before I ordered it. Although it is described as being for all IPAQ's, the box
it arrived in was very specific that it is for 3600, 3700, 3800 and 3900 series
PDA's (which are considerably larger than the 1935). I will also be sending mine
back. Was this review helpful to you? 21 of 21 people found the following review

16, 2003 Reviewer: David E. Kennemore (Knoxville, TN United States) This item
was meant for the older, larger model iPAQs. My model 1935 was swallowed up by
this huge case. I am returning this item for credit. I hope I also get credit
for the shipping charges. Of course I am out the cost of paying to return yet
another item that did not indicate that this case did not fit ALL iPAQ models.
Hopefully, I will end up with some credit. I am disappointed with Amazon.com. I
haven't had this much trouble in the past. Two out of the three accessories that
I bought for my iPAQ 1935 did not work. I bought the iPAQ Pocket PC from
Amazon.com. Live and learn. Was this review helpful to you? All Customer Reviews

Reviewer: anthony collard dds (san rafael, ca USA) This is a perfect reason not
to buy online. There is no way this product could find shelf space in a normal
store. It looks and feels like a used beer can. Amazon was asleep at the switch
when they allowed this onto their website. I opened the package and threw it
staight into the garbage. The time and effort involved in returning it wasn't
worth the money. Was this review helpful to you? 1 out of 5 stars Returned and

(Wapakoneta, Ohio, United States) Returned this with the option that Amazon
screwed up the order because the web site discription was misleading and 8 days
later they sent me an email stating that all charges would be credited to my
credit card. I'll give Amazon 5 stars for customer satisfaction , but the
product only gets 1. Was this review helpful to you? 2 out of 5 stars The Ipaq
1935 CAN fit in this case! , February 18, 2004 Reviewer: Barry R Furman
(Levittown, NY USA) The aluminum is bendable, so you can squeeze the inside end
clips in, to fit the IPAQ 1935. This worked very nicely. There is an inch or at
the top that you don't need, but I still use this case, and find it adequate to
protect the PDA. There is no other hard case which opens from the top, allows
the USB/Charger plug to fit in the PDA while it is in the case, and allows the
headphone to be plugged in. So.... I decided to keep the case .... until
something better comes along. Was this review helpful to you? 1 out of 5 stars

Gadgeteer Hands On Review : Belkin Flip-Top iPAQ Hard Case by Julie
Strietelmeier D ate: 03/18/2003 Let us know your comments on this review and
read what others have to say. Product Requirements: Device: iPAQ 38,and 3900
series Pocket PCs Now here's an interesting case for the iPAQ, the Belkin
Flip-Top Hard Case. This case offers something that no other hard cases (that
I've seen to date) have to offer. A flip top design with a pop up stylus holder.
Made of ABS plastic, with a metallic looking finish, the Flip-Top is compatible
with the 3800 and 3900 series iPAQ Pocket PCs. The PDA is easily inserted into
the case and is held there securely. Unfortunately, the plastic that encases the
PDA, also covers the reset switch, SD card slot and more importantly, the serial
port. To sync and charge, you'll need to remove the iPAQ from the case. This
case is also quite a bit more bulky then other hard cases available for the
iPAQ. Although it doesn't add much to the width of the PDA, it is quite a bit
longer. The plastic is pretty sturdy though and would probably withstand back
pocket usage for most people (if it would actually fit in your back pocket).
That's the bad. The good is the fact that this case totally encloses the PDA
when the cover is shut. As such, it should do a good job protecting the iPAQ
from dust, dirt and everyday abuse. The cover is held closed by a plastic latch.
This closure method is quite secure and would not come open on its own no matter
how hard I shook the case. When opened, you have excellent access to the screen
and buttons. Game players will not feel cramped at all. They may feel a little
distracted by the stylus pointing up at them though. A plastic stylus holder is
built into the hinge of the Flip-Top case. When the cover opens, the stylus pops
up ready to be retrieved and used. When the cover is closed, the stylus folds
down to rest on the front of the PDA. No worries though, the stylus does not
touch the screen. The Flip-Top is an ok case. It isn't one that I would
typically use as my everyday case, but I would use it as a travel case to
protect my iPAQ while in another bag. If you don't mind the bulk and the fact
that you have to remove it to sync/charge, then you might appreciate its other
features. Price: $29.99 Pros: The iPAQ is completely enclosed when cover is shut
Nifty stylus pop up design Cons: Must remove from holster to sync/charge with
cradle or cable. Reset switch not accessible SD card slot not accessible Bulky

Guest Review : InnoPocket HP1910 Hard Case by James M. Johnson D ate: 09/11/2003
Let us know your comments on this review and read what others have to say.
Product Requirements: Device: HP 1900 series iPAQ Pocket PC I remember the first
“armored” case that I ever purchased – a titanium Ti Slider by Rhinoskin . At
the time I was traveling extensively and carried my old Handspring Visor Ice
Deluxe with me in a pack or in a jacket pocket. At the time, several years ago,
I read a review of the Ti Slider by Julie and was immediately sold. No matter
where I was or what I was carrying, I could rest assured that my Ti Slider was
protecting my Visor and its precious contents from every scrape, bump, and
knock. Though it was boxy looking, I still miss that old Ti case with its
gorgeous titanium patina and industrial look. Several weeks ago, as I was
packing up the family for vacation to Maine, I received an Innopocket Metal
Deluxe Case for my wife’s iPAQ 1910 to review. Thankfully the professional
looking plastic casing was not the type that requires heavy-duty shears and
protective gear to cut through. Rather, the front of the packaging opened easily
and provided access to the case. No cuts to have stitched up at the last minute
at the ER! I slipped the iPAQ into the case, then into my old Tumi T2 backpack.
I had recently taken ownership of a new Microsoft Tanager/SPVx SmartPhone and
wished to bring along another PDA as a backup. We were planning on spending over
a week hiking, biking, climbing, “lobstering” and kayaking around the wilds of
Acadia National Park. I then had an urgent business trip overseas. On both trips
I found the case to be a blessing. Having just returned, I felt compelled to
share my experience with the it. I forgot how much I loved the protection
provided by a good metal PDA case. The case is anodized aircraft aluminum. The
anodized color is silver, and there is a nice texture to the finish. This
texture not only provides a decent grip (even with moist hands from hiking) but
also helps to hide fingerprints. The aluminum construction is quite sturdy yet
lightweight. I tried Julie’s squeeze test on the case and it didn’t squeak,
though it isn’t as stiff and resilient as titanium. All the gaps are uniformly
tight with no puckers. The case closely mimics the case profile of the 1910, and
includes a “bump” on the front of the case over the directional pad and the
application keys. The back of the case is contoured around the iPAQ. The
features, from the back of the packaging: Anodized aluminum protects your hp
iPAQ Pocket PC h1910 handled from wear and tear Precision molded case to
perfectly fit your handheld Neoprene lining holds your handheld securely in
place and protects it against drops, shocks and collisions Cutouts give easy
access to stylus, memory slot, headphone jack, IR port, record button and
charging/synchronization port Size: 116x80x21mm Weight: approximately 70g Model
Number: C9-0311 Made in China The case opens to the left, which I found a bit
odd at first (I’m ambidextrous). However, I found myself becoming accustomed to
it quickly. The interior of the case is covered in neoprene, which provides
shock protection should the iPAQ and case be dropped. One nice detail is the
SD/MMC card storage slot located under the cover of the case. I’ve become
accustomed to traveling with more than one SD card, typically one for apps and
one for MP3s/WMAs/MPEGs. I never noticed the card touching the screen, unlike
some of the leather cases with built-in SD/MMC cards I’ve owned for other iPAQs.
The finishing details were exquisite. The neoprene was fitted without a ripple,
and there wasn’t a rough edge on the case (unlike some of the earlier aluminum
PDA cases). Unlike the Ti Slider, which used friction between the neoprene and
the Visor to hold the PDA in place, this Innopocket case uses two thin aluminum
arms with small plastic beads on their ends to apply pressure to the back of the
iPAQ. These arms and beads align with two dimples on the back of the 1910. With
the iPAQ inserted into the case, I was unable to “accidentally” shake the unit
out its aluminum cocoon (though I must admit I did not shake the case too
violently). The sides of the case provide well located cutouts for all the ports
and buttons on this little wonder of a PDA. On the left side there is a cutout
for the IR port and the record button. Though the record button is recessed
behind the case, the button is still accessible and less prone to accidental
button presses. However, the reset hole is blocked. On the right side is a
cutout to ease access to the stylus. The bottom provides access to the
charge/synch port. My charge and synch cable worked flawlessly, but I doubt the
PDA could be placed into the charge/synch cradle when enclosed in the case
(unfortunately, I do not have such a cradle to test this). The top of the case
is open, so accessing the SD/MMC card or headphone jack is painless. My biggest
concern about using a metal case on the slim and attractive 1910 was the typical
bulkiness and lack of attention to details that I’ve experienced in the past.
However, this case has reset all of my expectations surrounding metal PDA cases.
It only marginally increased the size and weight of this lithe little PDA, yet
afforded it a level of protection that cannot be equaled. I was amazed at the
cutouts provided, and how well they aligned with the many ports and buttons on
the 1910. Even with my stubby fingers I was able to access the buttons. Amazing.
I carried the PDA/case combination with me everywhere we went. It fit well into
the interior pockets of my trusty old Scott eVest 2.0 alongside my new Tanager.
It spent hours at a time in a pack sharing space with bottles, snacks, and some
climbing gear in my backpack. It even traveled through security and across the
Atlantic Ocean and back inside of my eVest. I used the spare SD/MMC card slot to
house a card dedicated to storing the images captured by my Tanager’s snap-on
digital camera. There isn’t a scratch or dent on the case, and the 1910 is happy
and secure in its new home. The only real wish that I have for the case is some
type of provision for a belt clip. Perhaps a threaded port on the back of the
case for a screw-on style clip would be possible? In this manner it wouldn’t
damage the slim form factor of the case during those times the clip wasn’t in
use. Though I typically carry my PDA in a pocket in a jacket or bag, there are
times that a clip on case could come in handy. In summary, I was pleasantly
surprised by the fit and finish of this case, and the high levels of protection
it affords my (wife’s) beloved 1910. Whether on board a ship, hiking in the mist
and fog on Cadillac Mountain, or strolling through Hyde Park in London, the 1910
never left its case when in use. Now that I’m back on home turf, my wife has
taken custody of the wonderful 1910 and will not even consider removing it from
the Innopocket case. Until Louis Vuitton, Orbino, or someone else creates such a
stylish and protective case solution for PDAs, this Innopocket Metal Deluxe Case
has found a home in my wife’s purse. That alone speaks volumes about its style
and substance! Price: $29.90 available at Innopocket Pros: Lightweight, yet
highly protective case Well built (with no sharp edges) with access to most
ports and buttons Textured finish makes it less slip-prone than other anodized
finishes Simply gorgeous Cons: Lack of a belt clip Let us know your comments on

gfoose@abrazohealth.com gfoose@msn.com Founding Member - College of Psychiatric
& Neurologic Pharmacists Cec Gfoose, There are a couple of sites that sell a
hard case for the 4355. They are: http://www.ipaqcases.com/store/mdc4300.htm

I'm not sure if they are the same case, but at least you have a little price
comparison. BTW, I think I'm going to have to break down and get a hard case for
my 4355 too. I have it in a soft case now and I'm finding that if I handle it
the wrong way, I can hit the power button and not know it. When I go and turn it
on the next day....nothing, the battery is drained. I think that might be the
only complaint I have for the 4355, the location of the power button. Good Luck,
Cec Jack Just out of curiosity...why a metal case? Have you considerd the SPECK
cases? I like the protection of the "gel" in case there is a drop. I also like
the cases at www.casesonline.com. Great quality...very protective of the
equipment. Cec I don't know about Gfoose, but I think I'm leaning toward a metal
case because I have drained the battery in my 4355 three times, by accidently
hitting the power button when carrying it around. It is in a case by Body Glove.
I've looked at the ones in casesonline and they look nice. I won one from this
site back in March, but I haven't received it yet, so I'll wait to see if it
protects the power button before I make my decision to go metal. In the
meantime, I'll check out the SPECK cases. Thanks, Cec Jack I like my SPECK case
and I really like my case from CASES ON LINE. The "really" tells the story...I
like leather, it lasts, looks professional, and is just plain cool. They have a
good selection and there is wors that there are more coming. IpaqFanatic I have
been looking high & low for a hard (metal of ANY kind) case for our hospitals'
new iPAQ 4355s with the extended battery. Just FYI I think gfoose is looking for
a case for the 4355 with the EXTENDED battery. I have a 2200 so I'm not current
on 4355's but here's a few things I found for the 2200....maybe you can find
something similar for the 4300... Expandable Belt Case

agent680 I have to agree with Jack. Leather is the way to go. I have the Piel
Frama black leather case for my 4350. Of course once Vaja makes one I will buy
that. I have the Vaja for my phone and it is the best case I have ever owned.
Jack I was a Vaja lover...but have changed to casesonline...a MUCH better
product! jnajera I have the Sena, and I highly reccomend it. vBulletin v3.0.1,

of the companies that I have been monitoring, has produced a hard case for the
4350/4355! Here is the URL: http://www.ipaqcases.com/store/mdc4300.htm
Unfortunately, they show a picture of it in it's package. A lot of good that
does. I'm going to email them and ask if they can take it out of the package and
open it up to take some good detail pics. Cec Cec I received a reply from the
website. This is what they said: "We do not have the case in stock yet. So that
is why we do not have detailed pictures. Picture above is of this case. It will
come with a belt clip that is same as in the case below:
