PDA Buyer's Guide Home Click Here Click Here PDA Case Review Roundup: Cases
for the Sony Clié NX73V and NX80V: Xigma and Brando Xigma Deluxe Model Xigma
Style, a Japanese company, makes lovely leather cases for the Sony Clié line as
well as other PDAs. Their NZ90 Metallic leather case, reviewed here ,
illustrates their creative approach to case design and fashion. Xigma was one of
the first companies to releases cases for the NX73V and NX80V , which can't use
cases for the older NX60 and NX70 because the location of various ports and the
speaker have changed, and the CF slot deploys outward, requiring a wider or more
flexible case. We received the Deluxe Model for this review, which sells for $78
US and is available in several color combinations: (outside / inside) Black /
Red, Black / Beige , Black / Black and Black / Blue. The Deluxe case is made of
calf skin leather that's supple and finely grained. It definitely has a quality
look. The inside is calf skin, and the areas that touch the NX (the darker black
area in the photo) are very lamb soft suede. The spine area is soft enough that
you can easily flip the cover under the NX so that it won't be in your way when
using the PDA. The front and back covers are quite rigid to offer good
protection. The Basic Model, which has a similar design is Napa cowhide instead
of calf skin leather, costs $48 US. The Xigma case has a front magnetic snap
closure, and the case opens with the cover flap to the right. Inside the front
cover are pockets for two memory sticks and a larger pocket that can accommodate
credit cards, cash or a CF card. The NX slips into a snug leather pouch that
covers the bottom area below the keyboard. This is the most common method of
holding an NX in place inside a case. The pouch has a cut out for the
sync/charge connector, and you can charge and sync the Clié using a cable but
not the cradle while it's in the case. There are three small holes cut into the
back of the case for the speaker. You can store the NX in the case in either
clamshell or tablet mode, and you can flip it from one mode to the other easily
while it's in the case. Since the sides and top are exposed, you'll have easy
access to all ports and controls. The camera is not obstructed by the case
unless you swivel the lens to a 90 degree angle facing out the backside of the
NX (all cases I've seen do obscure the lens in this position). Though the case
fits snuggly when closed, there's enough give in the leather to accommodate a CF
memory card or Sony's WiFi card in the slot. The Xigma Deluxe Model is a quality
case that will protect your NX in style without adding too much bulk. It's quite
easy to use the PDA when in the case. Xigma makes several other models and
styles of NX73V/NX80V cases, so be sure to check them out if you're interested
in top flips, or more affordable nylon models. http://xigma.jp/en/ Xigma NX80V
case inside the Xigma NX80V case Side view of Xigma case Brando Workshop Clié
NX73V/NX80V Case Brando is a Hong Kong company that sells an extensive line of
accessories for Sony Cliés (and other PDAs), including cases, cables, chargers,
styli, Memory Sticks and more. Their cases are well made and reasonably priced
at $32 US for the NX73 / NX80 top or side flip models. We received the top flip
case for review, and it's pictured on the right. The case is made of leather,
and inner portion that touches the back of the NX is suede. The the suede is not
as soft as the Xigma case, the Brando Workshop case is more affordable and its
suede should be gentle enough for you Clié. The outside and inner flap are
covered in medium grain cowhide that's contrast stitched in white. The back and
front sections of the case are reasonably rigid, affording good protection for
the NX. For the price, the case has a good quality look. The case closes via a
tabbed closure: a strip of leather slides into a leather retaining band, similar
to a belt closure. Inside the front cover, you'll find two Memory Stick slots
that are recessed so they don't rub the NX, and a larger slot that can hold
credit cards, money or a CF card. While most flip cases flip open toward the
top, the Brando case flips down (see picture on the far right). This can be
awkward since top flip cases don't hang down in your lap and can be flipped over
the top and back, letting gravity keep it out of the way. With the Brando case,
you'll need to flip the cover up and back around the bottom, holding it there
with your hand. You can also use the tabbed closure which works just as well in
the open position as it does in the closed position. The Brando case also uses a
leather pouch that fits around the bottom area of the NX, encasing the area
below the keyboard. It has a cut out for the sync connector and you can
sync/charge the NX via cable but not cradle while it's in the case. The sides
and top of the Clié are exposed, making it easy to access the various controls
and headphone port. Since the top of the case is open, you won't have any
problems carrying the NX with a CF card in the expansion slot. As with most
other NX cases, the camera lens swivel is accessible, and you'll be able to take
pictures, except with the lens facing at a 90 degree angle out the back of the
NX (you can slide the PDA 1/2" out of the case to take pictures at this angle,
however). All is all, a very nice case at a reasonable price. shop.brando.com.hk

PDA Buyer's Guide Home Click Here Click Here PDA Case Reviews: Roundup: Cases
for the HP iPAQ 2210/2215: Vaja, Piel Frama, Krusell, Proporta and CASESonline
Vaja Billfold Leather Case Vaja has become the Mercedes of PDA cases. You can
read our general review of several of their cases for other PDAs here . They use
top quality leather and each case has the story of Vaja cases stamped into the
interior back section of the case, giving you that sense of old world charm and
class. The billfold case for the iPAQ 2215 sells for $74.90 to $80.90 US without
a belt clip, and you can order it with a belt clip and/or other customizations
for an additional fee. The billfold is a Custom case, which means it'll take
about 20 days for your case to be made, and you can choose from several leather
finishes and single or two-tone color combinations. In fact, all colors are
listed with their Pantone numbers, so graphic designers, go to town matching a
case to your favorite color! We received the embossed version in Apple Green for
review. Like all Vaja cases, it has a metal Vaja emblem on the front flap and
the Vaja story embossed inside the case. The shiny embossed leather has color
variations, as you can see from the pictures on the right. In photos, you might
mistake it for suede due to the color variations but it is similar to patent
leather (but not as shiny), with a hard surface texture and a definite sheen.
The stitching matches the color of the leather and is finely done. The selection
of colors and textures is refreshing, letting you express your individuality
(you can get the case in black too). The case has a snap closure, and the inner
billfold has a separate snap closure. The billfold functions as a wallet, and
has a full-length paper money compartment, and five credit card slots plus two
SD card slots facing inward. The backside of the billfold section that faces the
iPAQ screen has an additional credit card/business card slot. For a man who'd
rather not carry both a wallet and a PDA, this case could be ideal, though these
days few of us in the US carry around only 5 or 6 credit and ATM cards. The Vaja
case has cut outs for the CF and SD slots, the sync port (you can sync and
charge via cable but not cradle), the charging and Bluetooth LEDs and the front
buttons. There is no cut out for the power button, rather an embossed power
symbol sits atop the power button location, and you can turn the unit on and off
by pressing the power symbol. The case has a cut out for the headphone jack so
you'll be able to listen to MP3s while the iPAQ is in its case. On the back, a
small mesh grill covers the speaker hole, and there's a very small hole for the
reset button. I found it a bit hard to use the 4 front buttons on the 2215
because the openings are rather small. The case fits snuggly, and you must be
sure to get the iPAQ centered correctly so the leather doesn't overlap the
buttons. If you're looking for a quality case that does double-duty as a wallet
and is available in many different colors and finishes, then by all means check
out the Vaja Billfold case for the 2215. If you like the case but don't need a
billfold, you'll be happy to know that Vaja offers a flip top case sans billfold
for ~ $55 US. www.vajacases.com Vaja iPAQ 2215 case Vaja case vaja PDA case
billfold view Piel Frama Case Piel Frama is always on my short list for leather
PDA cases. Located in Spain, a country that's well known for leather-making,
Piel Frama offers a wide selection of cases for many PDAs and mobile phones. You
can read our general review of many of their cases for other PDAs here . We
received their cow skin leather model for review, which sells for 60 Euros (~$67
US). The case is also available in crocodile or ostrich (cow skin on the inside)
for 90 Euros (~$99 US). The cow skin case is available in black, tan and black
and tan. The leather is of excellent quality and is tightly grained and
aromatic. The case has a magnetic closure that works very well, and has a
removable belt clip. I love their magnetic closure: no velcro noise, and no
fiddling to align a snap! The stitching matches the case color and is finely
done. The case's cover and back are reasonably rigid, offering good protection
for your iPAQ. The back of the case is contour-cut, following the 2215's curved
lines. There's a large mesh grill on the back for the speaker, and a cut out on
the top for the CF and SD slots, as well as a cut out for the headphone jack.
The front of the case is quite open, and it doesn't get in the way of the
buttons or sync port (you'll still need to remove the iPAQ from the case if you
wish to sync using the cradle). Inside the flip cover there are 2 SD card slots,
3 credit card slots and a larger slot that can hold money, receipts and
etcetera. The flip has enough play so that the cards won't be pressed against
your iPAQ's screen, unless you squeeze it into a tight pocket. If you're looking
for a high quality case made in fine quality leather, put Piel Frama on your
short list. The case adds relatively little bulk while providing good protection
and easy access to the 2215's buttons and ports. www.pielframa.com Piel Frama
iPAQ 2215 leather case Piel Frama case Krusell Handit PDA Case Krusell is well
known for their mobile phone cases. In addition, they make good quality leather
PDA cases at reasonable prices. Each case has a metallic Krusell logo on the
front and features reinforced leather that surrounds the front of the PDA. Their
Handit case employs their capable and adaptable Multidapt® clip system which
allows you to attach not only a variety of belt clips, but also car and bike
holder clips which are available separately. The female clip is mounted
permanently to the back of the case, and is very thin and unobtrusive. The case
is finished in medium grained black leather that has a slight sheen. The inner
areas that directly contact the iPAQ are soft black suede. The back of the case
is reasonably rigid, and the front flap is extremely rigid and should offer
great screen protection. The inner flap has 2 SD card slots, 2 credit card slots
and a larger slot that can hold an additional credit card, money or receipts.
The case has a snap closure, with two female snaps on the back that allow you to
adjust how tightly the case closes, in case you really load up the slot pockets.
The front of the case is open, so it doesn't get in the way of the iPAQ's
buttons. I wouldn't mind if the side surrounds didn't wrap quite so far around
the PDA, because you must get the iPAQ centered to avoid the case overlapping on
the screen a tiny bit. There are cut outs for the sync connector (you can sync
via cable but not cradle while the unit is in the case), and the reset button.
The top flap contours in to allow access to the headphone jack, but there an no
cut outs for the CF and SD slots, so you won't be able to carry the iPAQ with
protruding cards (WiFi, GPS, modems) installed. Krusell cases are available from
many online and bricks-and-mortar retailers. www.krusell.se Krusell iPAQ 2215
case Proporta Aluminum Case If you're in the market for a hard case that will
help your iPAQ survive bangs and whacks, the Proporta case is a great choice.
Made of aluminum, the case is rigid yet lightweight (1.7 ounces) and adds very
little bulk to your PDA. The interior of the case is lined with neoprene so the
iPAQ won't be scratched, and there's a space for an SD card nestled in the
neoprene that lines the inside of the front cover. The case's edges are nicely
machined and smooth so they won't cause you any pain on contact, and the hinges
are sturdy and operate easily. The case closes via a compression clip on the
left side, and has cut outs for the LEDs on front, and the speaker and reset
hole in the rear. The sync connector cut out allows you to sync or charge the
iPAQ via cable, but not cradle. The top rear edge of the case has dips for the
stylus and CF slot so you won't need to remove the 2215 from the case to use
these. An extremely sturdy case that will offer a great deal of protection while
adding very little weight and bulk. It sells for $39.95 US. www.proporta.com
Proporta iPAQ 2215 aluminum case Proporta aluminum case CASESonline Cases
CASESonline is an HP partner, and they make the lovely leather case included
with the iPAQ 5500 series models. Their selection of iPAQ cases is simply
amazing, offering 10 different case designs that are each available in quite a
few styles (leather finishes and colors). Whatever your needs and tastes may be,
chances are they have a case to suit. Their cases are well-crafted, stylish and
custom designed to fit each iPAQ model. Slim Case, Wall Street version $64.75
This lovely case is available in no less that 9 different styles, each of which
is available in 4 or more colors. We received the Wall Street model in black,
which is made of calf skin leather that's medium-grained and looks top quality
and luxurious. The leather itself is soft to the touch, and the section that
connects the cover to the back is supple, making it easy to open and close. Both
the cover and back sections are reinforced and are quite rigid, and they also
have padding. The case adds some bulk thanks to the padding and rigid inserts,
but it's not cumbersome. The iPAQ slides into the case and is held in place by a
molded leather surround that connects to the back of the case via nylon webbing.
It truly fits like a glove and the PDA will stay firmly in place. A stylus
holder sits to the left of the iPAQ, and inside the cover you'll find 2 SD card
slots, 2 credit card slots and a money pocket. The case is held closed by a tab
closure. There are cut outs for the power button, LEDS and sync port on the
bottom. You can connect the PDA to a sync cable but not cradle while in the
case. The top of the iPAQ is exposed, so you'll have no problem getting to the
slots and headphone jack. The back of the case does not have an opening for the
speaker or reset button. This case is a strong contender! It has a very high
quality look, a molded surround that holds the iPAQ firmly in place and plenty
of protection. If you prefer to have an opening for the speaker, or want the
slimmest possible case, then you may want to consider the slightly slimmer Piel
Frama and Krusell cases. Sleeve Case, Bond Street in Black $34.75 If you're
looking for a simple case, check out the Sleeve Case, which is available in 10
different styles and several colors. The sleeve case is similar in design to the
nylon case that's included with the 2215. Your iPAQ slips into the case, and is
held in place by nylon webbing on the sides. But that's where the similarity
ends! The included case fits too tightly and is rough, and has a tendency to
pull the rubber grips off the iPAQ or even scratch it. The Sleeve Case has a
better fit that should leave your side grips intact, and the front and back
panels are made of smooth leather that won't mar your 2215. The front of the
case has a single pocket for money/CF card/credit card, and two slots for SD
cards. The SD cards are held in play by stretch nylon, and that's the only thing
I found esthetically displeasing about the case. The leather looks so nice, I
really hated to see nylon in the center. The case has a cut out on the bottom
for the sync connector, and you can use a cable but not cradle while it's in the
case. While you probably won't sync the PDA in the case since you won't be able
to see the screen, you can charge it via cable while in the case.

the HP iPAQ 5000 Series: Vaja, Piel Frama, E&B, Proporta and CASESonline Vaja
Flip Top Leather Case for iPAQ plus standard CF Sleeve Vaja has become the
Mercedes of PDA cases. You can read our general review of several of their cases
for other PDAs here . They use top quality leather and each case has the story
of Vaja cases stamped into the interior back section of the case, giving you
that sense of old world charm and class. The case sells for $54.90 without a belt
clip and to $58.90 US with a belt clip. You can order it with customizations
such as embossing, different card slot configurations, matching interior leather
lining and different colors for an additional fee. It takes about 20 days for
your case to be made, while the standard model is usually ready to go. We
received standard black case without an Ultra Clip belt clip for review. Like
all Vaja cases, it has a metal Vaja emblem on the front flap and the Vaja story
embossed inside the case. The front flap has an attractive embossed pebbled
leather texture, and the sides and back of the case are finely-grained smooth
leather. The sides and "flippable" portion are made of very flexible leather
making it easy to get the iPAQ in and out, and easy to open and close the case.
The back panel leather is still and supporting, and the front flip has a rigid
insert and padding to protect your iPAQ's screen. The case has a snap closure.
Inside the flip cover you'll find two credit card slots, two SD card slots and a
larger area behind these slots where you can store paper money, receipts or
business cards. The Vaja case has a cut out for the WiFi antenna and volume
up/down rocker button. The top of the iPAQ is unobscured when the case is open
so the speaker, power button, LEDs and SD slot are exposed. The case has a cut
out for the headphone jack so you'll be able to listen to MP3s while the iPAQ is
in its case. The reset button is also easy to get to, as are the front buttons.
You can sync via cable but not cradle while the iPAQ is in its case. This is a
very well made case that looks very classy. Not many manufacturers make cases
for sleeved iPAQs, and this is one of the nicest available. The leather is soft
where it should be and rigid where it should be, and the case wears very well
over the course of time. www.vajacases.com Vaja iPAQ 5555 case Vaja case side
view Piel Frama Case Piel Frama is always on my short list for leather PDA
cases. Located in Spain, a country that's well known for leather-making, Piel
Frama offers a wide selection of cases for many PDAs and mobile phones. You can
read our general review of many of their cases for other PDAs here . We received
their crocodile leather model for review, which sells for 90 Euros (~$99 US).
The case is also available in ostrich for the same price or cow skin leather for
60 Euros (~$67 US). The crocodile case is available in black, while the ostrich
is tan. The cow skin case is available in black, tan and black and tan. The case
is finished in crocodile with cow skin leather sides and cow skin inside. The
crocodile finish looks elegant and has a tasteful sheen and the cow skin leather
is of excellent quality and is tightly grained and aromatic. The case has a rear
magnetic closure that works very well, and has a removable belt clip. I love
their magnetic closure: no velcro noise, and no fiddling to align a snap! The
stitching matches the case color and is finely done. The case's cover and back
are reasonably rigid, offering good protection for your iPAQ. The case is
contour-cut, following the iPAQ's curved lines. Since it's a flip case, all
top-mounted items such as the power button, SD card slot, speaker and LEDs are
easily accessible. The front of the case is quite open, and it doesn't get in
the way of the buttons or sync port (you'll still need to remove the iPAQ from
the case if you wish to sync using the cradle rather than a cable). There's a
cut out for the WiFi antenna, and headphone jack, reset button, bottom mic port
and the volume rocker. Inside the flip cover there are 2 SD card slots, 2 credit
card slots and a larger slot that can hold money, receipts and etcetera. The
flip has enough play so that the cards won't be pressed against your iPAQ's
screen, unless you squeeze it into a tight pocket. This is one of my favorite
iPAQ cases, and I use it daily on my 5555. It looks absolutely gorgeous! The
case adds relatively little bulk while providing good protection and easy access
to the buttons and ports. Piel Frama also makes cases for the iPAQ with CF
sleeve, PCMCIA sleeve, GPRS sleeve and even for the iPAQ with extended battery.
In face, they are the only maker I'm aware of that makes a case for the iPAQ
with the extended battery. www.pielframa.com Piel Frama iPAQ 5550 crocodile case
Piel Frama case E & B Slipper Slim Leather Case The slim, custom-fitted, Slipper
black leather case from E&B Cases is attractive, provides good protection and is
convenient to use. Constructed in fine Napa cowhide leather, the Slipper case
feels soft in your hands and rigid on the edges thanks to re-enforced inserts.
Your iPAQ can be easily slid in and out of the case and once inside, the unit
feels very secure. The case is a flip cover model with a small magnetic closure
that is strong enough to keep the cover shut securely. You will find cutouts for
all ports, making them accessible while the unit is placed inside the case. The
volume rocker, headphone jack and the reset button are very easy to get to.
Since it’s a flip cover case, top-mounted items such as the the speaker, power
button, LEDs and SD card and stylus are exposed when you open the flip cover.
There is a cutout on the top of the case for the antenna. There's a cut out for
the sync port on the bottom, and you can sync via a cable but not cradle when
the unit is in the case. On the front of the unit, the Slipper case covers only
about half inch around the iPAQ, leaving the screen fully exposed and all the
front buttons naked. The flip cover has two business card slots and two SD card
slots inside a long pocket (to prevent the cards from touching the screen. E&B
Cases suggests that you do not store credit cards in this case since there is a
magnetic strip. The Slipper leather case adds very little bulk to your iPAQ. It
feels comfortably in your hands and it looks professional in fine black leather
with a small stylish E&B badge on the cover. The leather feels very soft and
easy to work with, yet the rigid inserts provide good protection for both the
screen and the unit itself. The case sells for $36.95, and $39.95 with a belt
clip. www.ebcases.com E & B case E & B case for iPAQ 5555 Proporta Aluminum Case
If you're in the market for a hard case that will help your iPAQ survive bangs
and whacks, the Proporta case is a great choice. Made of aluminum, the case is
rigid yet lightweight (1.7 ounces) and adds very little bulk to your PDA. The
interior of the case is lined with neoprene so the iPAQ won't be scratched. The
iPAQ snaps snuggly into the case, firmly anchoring against the sleeve connector
cut out and it will definitely stay in place. The case's edges are nicely
machined and smooth so they won't cause you any pain on contact, and the hinges
are sturdy and operate easily. The case closes via a compression clip on the
right side, and the front door has a gentle bevel cut that leaves the speaker,
power and LEDs exposed. The sync connector cut out allows you to sync or charge
the iPAQ via cable, but not cradle. The top left side of the case has a cut out
for the volume up/down rocker, and the reset hole and mic are exposed on the
bottom for easy access. An extremely sturdy case that will offer a great deal of
protection while adding very little weight and bulk. It sells for $39.95 US.

stylish and custom designed to fit each iPAQ model. Deluxe Case, Madison Avenue
Edition $64.75 The Deluxe case is available in no less that 11 different styles,
each of which is available in several colors. We received the Madison Avenue
model in tan, which is made of leather that has a smooth, glossy finish that
looks top quality and luxurious. The Deluxe model isn't intended to be a slim
case (CASESonline also makes slim cases). Rather it's a full-featured model that
has a refillable paper notepad that mounts facing the iPAQ screen, and a wallet
which closes with a separate snap (see middle photo, right). The wallet has a
section for paper money, slots for three credit cards, two SD cards and a
compartment suitable for your driver's license under a plastic window. Both the
cover and back sections are reinforced and are quite rigid, and they also have
padding. The iPAQ slides into the case and is held in place by a molded leather
surround. It truly fits like a glove and the PDA will stay firmly in place. A
stylus holder sits to the left of the iPAQ. The case is held closed by a tab
closure, and the inner wallet has an additional snap closure. There are cut outs
for the headphone jack, reset hole and sync port on the bottom. The top area is
cut down so as to not obscure the speaker, LEDs and power button. You can
connect the PDA to a sync cable but not cradle while in the case. The top of the
iPAQ is exposed, so you'll have no problem getting to the SD slot and stylus.
This case is a strong contender! It has a very high quality look, a molded
surround that holds the iPAQ firmly in place and plenty of protection. If you're

PDA Buyer's Guide Home Click Here Click Here PDA Case Reviews: Cases for the
Sony Ericsson P800 Smartphone by Tong Zhang, Editor Vaja I-VOLUTION Quo Leather
Cases Compared to other P800 cases, Vaja’s I-VOLUTION Quo leather cases offer
the strongest protection and the most beautiful style. Like other Vaja cases,
the I-VOLUTION Quo and Quo B come in variety of colors, two stylish designs and
belt clip option. They have cut outs for everything you need access on the P800,
except the flip cover (you need to remove the flip cover). Molded to fit the
P800 perfectly, the Quo cases are rigid with a stiff lining on the inside and
smooth leather on the outside. The construction of the case is so strong that
even if you try to bend it, you will find it hard to budge. On the Quo model
(which is the one we received for review), you will find a couple of leather
inserts next to the camera cutout and the speaker cutout. These little leather
pieces add additional protection and support as they pop out higher than the
casing itself. There are cutouts for the power button, camera, stylus, etc. on
the sides. The camera, speaker and the display screen on the P800 are also
exposed. There is a cutout on the case for the power and syncing cable. The only
thing this case does not offer cutouts for is the plastic front flip cover.
Since the P800 offers the same functions on screen as the flip cover, this isn’t
a deal breaker, however the screen itself isn’t protected. The case opens
completely on the top and since it’s molded to fit and there is no closure
mechanism. Your smartphone fits tightly inside and it’s actually hard to get it
out once it’s in place. The belt clip is installed right below the camera
cutout. The Vaja I-VOLUTION Quo and Quo B cases offer very strong protection and
classy design. The leather is high quality, feels smooth and ever so lightly
printed with the Vaja logo on the front. The variety of colors stand out among
the black cases, and somehow fits the P800’s sleek design and personality. The
perfect mold gives your smartphone very good protection without adding too much
bulk. If I’d dropped my phones before, I’d feel more comfortable putting my P800
in this case. The only down side is if you are fan of the flip cover, you will
be disappointed that you can’t use it with this case. Price: $75-79 (Quo B);

WorkShop Deluxe Leather Cases The Sony Ericsson P800 smartphone is a hard unit
to make cases for. It’s got ports and buttons on both side of the unit, a
built-in camera lens on the back and a flip cover that connects to the very
bottom of the phone in the front. Brando WorkShop’s leather case managed to give
you access to all the ports and buttons, and allows you to use the phone with
its flip cover inside of the case. Made in thin leather with a suede lining with
enforced back casing, Brando’s Deluxe leather case adds very little bulk to the
unit. The front of the case leaves the entire P800 screen open for easy access.
You can open the plastic flip cover on the P800 because the case has a cutout
for it. You will find cutouts on both sides for power button, camera button,
stylus, etc. to be exposed. There is a round cutout on the back for the camera
lens. The back of the case is padded to provide better protection. The case is
shut by two snaps that cover over the top of the phone and snap on the back. The
snaps feel secure and very easy to operate. You can get a belt clip for the
case, which located below the camera lens on the back. The Brando WorkShop
leather case for the P800 adds very little built to the unit, gives you easy
access to everything you need on the phone. It comes in a very nice gift box and
sells at a very reasonable price. The only problem I could see is that while you
have the freedom of accessing the flip cover, the case doesn’t give you much
protection in the front since it has to cut out pretty much everything except
the top inch real estate. Price: US$32.00 shop.brando.com.hk Brando case for

PDA Buyer's Guide Home Click Here Click Here Small Laptop Bags for Tablet PCs
and Sub-Notebooks -Classy Cases Designed for Windows XP Tablets, Ultra-light
Notebooks and Apple iBook/12” PowerBook Posted December 2003 by Tong Zhang,
Senior Editor The lightweight Windows XP Tablet PCs and B5 size ultra-light
notebooks are extremely portable compared to their full sized (sometimes even
oversized) laptop counterparts. The portability often means that your tablet PC
and small notebook will be in transit and needs good protection. We looked at
various laptop bags, some designed for the tablet PCs; others designed for
Apple's 12” PowerBooks which fits some of the tablets and sub-notebooks
surprisingly well. We use the Acer C100 series and Sony Vaio TR2A in this test.
If you are unfamiliar with the specs of these units, please read our detailed
reviews here for the Acer Tablet PC and here for the Sony Vaio TR2A . Acme Made-
Slim Bags Overview Acme Made is a company that designs, manufactures and sells
computer bags mostly for Apple products. Their bags stand out with slim design
that fits the Acer tablet very well, good protection inside and out, and variety
of styles that will fit in any environment and with any personality. We tested
the Acer and Vaio with Acme's 12” Gray Flannel design and Green Circle design.
Size & Fit Even though these bags were designed for the 12” PowerBook, they fit
the Acer C100 series very well and are slightly larger than the TR2A. When you
put your Acer tablet in the bag, it fills the bag width-wise and leaves about 2”
between your Acer and the zipper on top. With the Vaio TR2A, there is about 3”
gap between the notebook and the zipper. The quilted satin lining inside the bag
provides a soft and snug fit that will hold your computer in place, and should
fit any Tablet PC thicker or thinner than the Acer C100 series, and notebooks
that are similar in size to the Apple 12” PowerBook. Features and Quality The
Acme Slim bags are designed to be carried like a suitcase as well as over your
shoulder. There are two leather handles on the front and back side of the bag,
and two shoulder strap holders on each side of the bag. The shoulder strap is
included. There is a front compartment with zipper that will fit your extra
battery and power adapter tightly. The Acme bags provide very good protection
thanks to the closed cell foam shell with waterproof coating and high impact
plastic padding. If you have one of the slate tablets, you should be happy to
know that the lining inside of the Acme bags is made of quilted satin that feels
soft and smooth. It won't scratch your Tablet PC or notebook. The outer cover of
the bags are either made of heavy duty wool or a cotton/polyester blend with a
Teflon finish which is designed to withstand over 63,000 “double rubs”. The Acme
bags are constructed entirely by hand, and have life-time warranty. Style One of
the outstanding features of the Acme bags is the “look”. The variety of cover
designs will make you look good in any environment. The dark and solid color
designs have a slick and clean business style while the designer dotted and
circled covers are more playful. The solid bright colored bags make a personal
statement. From a style stand point, Acme bags have the most versatile designs
and creative ways of using materials. Summary Acme Made bags are good for
carrying your Tablet PC on its own, or hidden inside a larger computer bag. The
bags provide very good protection yet add very little bulk. The bags are well
made and stand out with their designer covers and variety of styles and colors.
It should fit most of the Tablet PCs and 12” or smaller notebooks. Price:
$79.99-$159.99 Web Site: www.acmemade.com Tom Bihn- Small Bag and Padded Sleeve
Overview A star in the Pacific Northwest, Tom Bihn and the company pride
themselves with the quality of their bags which are all made in the US where
they believe that they can control the quality of the material as well as the
workmanship better than overseas' manufacturers. Many of the Tom Bihn's bags
have an outdoorsy design to withstand the rainy weather of the Pacific Northwest
region. The collection of sizes, colors and designs is quite large, so you can
find a bag that fits your computer and your style. We tested the Acer Tablet PC
C100 series and Sony Vaio TR2A with the Brain Cell (size 5) and Mitre sleeve
(size 5) bags. Size & Fit The Brain Cell bags have a large piece of Velcro sewed
on the bottom of the lining inside of the bag. You can snap the Velcro to
different heights to change the inner dimensions of the bag. Because of this
feature, both the Acer and Vaio can fit firmly—a very versatile design! There is
a large front pocket that is made of stretchable material and fits your extra
battery, power adapter and more. The Mitre Padded Sleeve bag is designed to mitt
your computer before you put it in your travel back or backpack to give it an
extra protection. Both the Acer and Vaio fit the bag just fine, and the case
flap can be closed easily using the Velcro snap. Both Brain Cell and Mitre bags
come in 5 sizes and they all fit in larger models of Tom Bihn bags. There is a
detailed list of which laptops and Tablet PCs fit in which size on Tom Bihn's
web site. Features and Quality The Brain Cell bag is designed to be either
carried like a suitcase or over the shoulder like a messenger bag. There are two
nylon handles on the front and back side of the bag, and two shoulder strap
holders on each side of the bag. The shoulder strap is not included. Tom Bihn
offers 2 types of shoulder straps which can be purchased separately. Unlike many
other laptop bags, the Brain Cell has a Velcro strip instead of zipper on top of
the bag that acts as a closure. This design will avoid the trouble a worn-out
zipper could present, but don't open your bag in a quite meeting as it's quite
loud. The Brain Cell bag is built with a strong corrugated plastic shell with
foam padding that's laminated to Velcro-compatible fabric that feels very
smooth. There is a gap between the out shell and the Velcro snapped-in lining,
leaving the laptop “hanging” in an adjustable sling. This design not only
permits the bag to fit many sizes of computers, but also prevents your computer
from making contact with anything should you drop your bag. It is a very clever
design. The front accessory compartment is stretchable and quite large;
definitely a plus for someone carries the computer along with other small items.
The Mitre Sleeve has a very simple design for a very simple purpose: preventing
scratches and scrapes. If you have a slate designed Tablet PC and use a large
bag, this Sleeve is a must-have in order to protect your Tablet's screen. Slide
your computer into the sleeve and fold the tongue over and close the sleeve with
the large Velcro patch. The sleeve is built with soft foam padding; the lining
of the Mitre is made of very soft and smooth brushed nylon. Both the Brain Cell
and Mitre are well built and made with quality materials. All Tom Bihn bags come
with life-time warranty. Style The design of Tom Bihn bags can be categorized
largely into two styles: city messenger and mountain trail hiker. The Brain Cell
bag belongs in the city messenger category, with its minimalistic design,
utilitarian snaps, Velcro and even an extra set of straps that can be hooked on
to any backpack externally. There are a large number of colors available for
this bag including solid colors, plaid patterns and more. The material also
makes the bag ideal for all seasons. The Mitre Sleeve also has a simple design
that comes in two colors: Titanium and Inferno. The black trim on the edgesand
the black Velcro closure goes well with both colors. Summary Tom Bihn bags are
built with a no-nonsense design that provides very good protection for your
Tablet PCs or sub-notebook. The urban and weekend-warrior designs both have
attractive yet clean styling. The good selection of colors and sizes make these
bags very versatile. If you live in rainy areas or travel outdoors often, do
consider these bags. Price: Brain Cell: $50 Mitre: $30 Web Site: www.tombihn.com
Booq- PowerSleeve12 Overview Of all the bags we've tested in this round, the
Booq bag is the most rugged of the lot. Ruggedness is a key feature for Booq,
and it comes through in the design, material and construction of their bags. In
addition to the strong materials and build quality, Booq bags offer easy to
access to your notebook and they offer options to add more compartments for
additional accessories. These features reflect Booq's idea of creating bags for
people on the go. We tested the Acer and Vaio with Booq's PowerSleeve12, which
was designed for the 12” PowerBook G4. Size & Fit The PowerSleeve12 fits both
the Acer Tablet PC and the Vaio TR2A sub-notebook. When you put your computer in
the bag vertically, there is about 1” space between your computer and the bag
opening, making it easy to close the cover. The Acer fits perfectly width-wise
while the TR2A (shorter in width than the Acer) leave some space width-wise in
the bag. The foam padding is soft yet firm, so your computer won't slide around
even if it's slightly smaller than a perfect fit. There is a front pocket built
into the cover of the bag that can hold an extra battery, a pair of glasses,
pens and other small items. There is another large compartment in the back of
the bag that can store lots of accessories and other items. Features and Quality
The PowerSleeve12 is built mostly for carrying over the shoulder, even though
there is a sturdy handle on the top of the bag which allows you carry the bag
like a suitcase. The bag has a flap cover that uses strong Velcro to close the
bag. The additional two accessory compartments use zippers with very nice and
large zipper pulls. The shoulder strap holders are sewn in and protected by
strong nylon. The shoulder strap is detachable and works like a seatbelt that
can be snapped open and closed quickly. A shoulder strap is included with the
bag. The PowerSleeve12 is built with thick high-density polyurethane foam and
covered with tough and weather-resistant 1680D nylon that feels very sturdy and
is “virtually indestructible” according to Booq. The lining is very soft and
smooth. The materials will protect your computer inside and out from shock,
weather or scratches. The stitching look very solid and the handles are well
sewn on or riveted for additional security. Booq bags give you the impression
that they are built to last, and they indeed come with lifetime warranty. Style
The PowerSleeve12 has a very clean design with emphasis on protection and easy
access. The selection of materials provides great protection while the
top-loading design and quick Velcro snap closure provides easy and fast access
your notebook. The strong shoulder strap design makes this bag a good choice for
those who ride bicycles, walk or take the bus or train while carrying their
computers. The vertical design is hip and will fit in at school, in urban
settings and other environments. Even though the bag is rugged, it adds very
little bulk. Summary If you are looking for a bag that will withstand the rainy
weather, bumps on busy streets or trains, and is easy to carry while walking or
biking, Booq's PowerSleeve bags are hard to beat. The bags provide plenty of
protection for your computer and the design style will fit in most environments.
If you use computer bags heavily and in harsh environments, do check out Booq's
collection. Price: $39.95 Web Site: www.booqbags.com Targus- Tablet PC Portfolio
Overview For the folks who are accustomed to carrying their portfolio style
daytimers or paper notepads, the Targus Tablet PC Portfolio case should be a
natural choice since it looks like those portfolio binders except you put your
Tablet PC in this one. It's designed for you to use your tablet inside of the
case and comes in both nylon and leather. Targus has a large collection of
laptop bags and PDA cases. The Tablet PC Portfolio is design to fit one of the
largest tablets such as the Toshiba Portégé 3500 , however it can house other
tablets as well. While this Tablet PC Portfolio product is available on the
Targus UK web site, the Targus US site offers a similar portfolio style case for
the HP Tablet PC. Targus UK will ship their case to European countries and
Targus US will ship to all 50 US States. We tested the Acer and Vaio with the
nylon version of the Tablet PC Portfolio found on UK site. Size & Fit Measuring
in at 10” x 12”, the Targus Tablet PC Portfolio is slightly bigger than the Acer
C100 series (about 1” too big) and is too big for the TR2A. The Portfolio will
fit the Toshiba Portégé tablet and most of the mid-sized laptops perfectly.
There are three straps that hold your computer in place. On the right side of
the portfolio, there is a pocket for paper documents and a business card
compartment that has plenty space for a stack of cards. Features and Quality The
portfolio style makes this case an ideal for carrying your Tablet PC to business
meetings and functions. It has 5 elastic straps, 4 on each cover and one across
the case. These straps can hold your Tablet PC inside the case securely when
your Tablet PC is in laptop mode, tablet mode or closed position. The straps
also allow you to use your Tablet PC while in the case, however smaller tablets
such as the Acer C100 series won't be able to take advantage of the two straps
that hold the display panel. The Tablet PC Portfolio is made of heavy duty nylon
and has strong padding. It will provide very nice protection and acts as a
steady surface for you to use the Tablet PC in the case. The lining is rather
smooth and will prevent scratches. The portfolio is closed by a leather strap
with a large snap that feels strong and secure. The Targus Tablet PC Portfolio
has a very professional look and is built with quality. It comes with lifetime
warranty. Style The Tablet PC Portfolio is designed to carry the Tablet PCs in
the office or for short distances. It can easily be placed inside of your
suitcase or bigger bag. Both the leather and nylon models look very
professional, even the nylon version has some leather pieces that give it a
“serious” look. The case comes in black color. Summary Designed specifically for
the Tablet PC, the Targus Tablet PC Portfolio provides the neccessory features
that enable you to use your Tablet PC inside of the case. Its professional style
and the portfolio design make this case a perfect choice if you carry your
Tablet PC at work. It adds very little bulk and weight yet offers the protection
your Tablet PC needs. The case is small in size which allows you easily slide it
into a large bag for travel. Price: Tablet PC Portfolio: £20.53 (including VAT);

Cases for the - Metallic Case for Sony Clié NZ90, Clié TG50 and iPAQ 5450 Made
by a company that puts its passion into finding the right balance between strong
functionality and stylish design, Xigma leather cases provide stylish protection
for your PDA. The new leather silver/black metallic cases for Clié NZ90 , Clié
TG50 and iPAQ 5450 are good examples of this balance between style and
protection. Available in both flip cover and side folding designs, the Metallic
model cases are made in black leather with silver alphabet letters embossed on
the exterior and a soft suede interior. The flip cover NZ90 case, which we
received for the review, works similarly to most NR and NX series cases. You can
slide your NZ90 into the case which surrounds the area just below the keyboard.
The flip cover has a hard insert for better screen protection and has three
slots including two Memory Stick slots and a long credit card/business card
slot. The case has a magnetic snap closure, makes it easy to close the case
securely and quietly. You can use the NZ90 while in the case for both the flip
cover and side folding models. All the ports and buttons on the side and top of
the unit are exposed for easy access. Since the case doesn’t attach to the LCD
half of the PDA, you won’t need to worry about getting the unit out of the cover
when switching between clamshell and tablet mode. If you are one of those NZ90
owners who uses the Sony strap, you should be happy to know that there is a
slight cutout curve on the back of the case to expose the strap mount. While
Xigma’s Metallic case accommodates almost everything on your NZ90, it does not
have a cutout or grill on the back for the speaker. Xigma case and box Even
though the case doesn’t add much bulk to the NZ90, you will have to remove the
PDA from the case to sync via cradle. The case comes in a very nice box, which
makes it a great gift item. Other models of Xigma leather cases are available
for Sony Clié NZ90, SJ33, TG50, NX70, NR70; iPAQ 5450, 3800; Palm m500/m505,
Tungsten T; and some Toshiba, Casio, Handspring and HP Jornada PDAs. Check
Xigma’s web site for the complete list. Conclusion With its silver letters on a
black background, the case looks like the billboard for a Broadway play. While
its design will turn a few heads, the good protection of your PDA and easy
access to all your ports and camera will earn your satisfaction. The only
drawback is that there’s no opening for the speaker. But all in all, the bold
and in-your-face exterior and the soft cushy interior represent the perfect
balance between the Ying and Yang. Price: $69 Website: http://xigma.jp/en Xigma

PDA Buyer's Guide Home Click Here Click Here PDA Case Reviews: Vaja Fine Leather
Case and I-Volution Vaja cases have an excellent reputation in the PDA
community, and for good reasons: the cases are elegant, stylish and fit each
model like a glove. These are some of the nicest cases out there. Each case has
the story of Vaja cases stamped into the interior back section of the case (see
far right illustration), giving you that sense of old world charm and class.
Great gifts, if these cases are in your price range. But how functional are
their cases? We reviewed the Classic case for the naked iPAQ H3800 series and
the Palm model 791 for the m100 series (it fit our m130 as well, just a little
snug). The iPAQ classic case we reviewed had a snap closure and came in a
polished black leather. The case fit perfectly: not too snug, no internal voids
and it closed easily. For most all models, magnetic closure models are also
available, and you can get yours with or without Vaja's "Ultra Clip" belt clip.
Inside you'll find slots for 2 credit cards and 2 SD cards. The flip cover has
an ABS insert for added rigidity and protection. The buttons are all accessible
while the PDA is in the case, and with a little nudge, you can get to the reset
hole on the bottom. You can sync you iPAQ while it's in the case. Models are
available for the iPAQ with an expansion sleeve as well. The Palm m100 case
comes in a two-tone tan and deep green leather combo. It looks great! All
buttons are accessible, there's a hole for the rarely needed reset button and of
course, the window for the clock (clear plastic, so a portion of your screen
isn't exposed to damage) Press the Vaja logo and the clock will display. You
won't be able to sync in the cradle with this case, but there is a hole at the
bottom so that you can use a sync cable. The flip cover has ABS inside to
protect your screen further. Vaja cases are available for just about every PDA,
in several colors, types of leather, with magnetic closures and snap closures,
and with or without a belt clip. iPAQ 3800 case inside the iPAQ case Vaja Palm

Left: model 791 - Palm m100 Flip Top Case Vaja I-Volution (other Vaja cases are
above) A totally new concept in case design, the I-Volution is available for
several PDAs, including the iPAQ (all models), Palm Tungsten T, the Sony Clié
NR70 and NX series. The I-Volution fits like a form-molded case, but instead of
being plastic, it's covered in elegant leather. In fact, you have your choice of
more than 30 colors and a few textures! Inside the lovely leather covering,
there's ABS plastic to protect your beloved PDA. The ABS is form-molded to the
shape of your PDA and that's how this case manages such a perfect, slim fit.
This also means this case is one of the most protective soft cases. Leather is
bonded to the ABS on both sides, giving it the classy look. It adds the least
bulk of any PDA case on the market. The cases stay shut thanks not just to the
tight molded fit of the flip cover, but magnets under the closure point. The
iPAQ 3800/3900 series case has two slots for SD cards under the flip lid. You
can hotsync while the iPAQ is in the I-Volution. There are cut-outs for the
stylus and headphone jack and well as the record button (though you do have to
try to actually press the record button, preventing accidental recording). The
Clié NR70 case is available as the standard I-Volution Dyna for $119 US, and as
the I-Volution Dyna Mix, which is a two-tone case selling for $129. You'll be
able to swivel your NR70 while it's in the case, access the headphone and
jogdial while the PDA is closed. You can use a hotsync cable, but not the cradle
while your Clié is in the I-Volution. The Dyna II is available for the Clié NX
series, and is pictured on the right. It fits like a glove, adding little bulk
to the PDA. The bottom of the Clié slides into the case, and the top section is
held snuggly in place via the form-molded case edges. You can pop off the top
half of the case to switch the Clié from clamshell to tablet mode. While you can
leave your NX in tablet mode while in the case, you will have to pry the case
off the screen section each time you use the NX. It's much more convenient if
you use the unit in clamshell mode, since you won't have to remove the top half
of the case to access the screen— just flip the Clié open, and the case moves as
one with the NX. The Dyna II for NX has cutouts for the HotSync port (you can
sync via cable, but not cradle when the Clié is in the case), WiFi CF slot, the
reset hole and there's a mesh grill over the speaker area. The left side of the
case is left open so you can access the capture button, jog dial, headphones and
etcetera. The right side has an opening for the stylus and the grommet for the
Sony hand strap. The case itself arrives in a molded leather-covered
presentation box (see image above), making it an excellent gift. The smell of
leather is aromatic, and the leather itself is supple and rich. Is it worth the
price? If you want a futuristic, ultra-slim, protective soft case that looks
high-tech yet elegant, and you have the money to burn, then yes! There's a
reason why these are the most popular high end cases for PDAs. www.vajacases.com
prices range from $50 to $105 US The I-Volution cases run from $119 to $149.

Cases These are great times for case shoppers! We're no longer limited to a few
manufacturers in our search for high quality, attractive leather cases.
Covertec, a European company, offers an extensive line of cases for just about
every PDA, including the T-Mobile, Dell Axim, Sharp Zaurus SL-5500, all iPAQ
models including the 1910 and 5450, Tungsten T and W, most Sony Clié models and
even the Palm Zire. The lightly grained over-stitched leather of the case's
exterior is lightly aromatic and looks top quality. The cases are supple yet
protective. The interior of the cases are lined with a contrasting colored
leather (generally either beige or brown) that's smooth with only the slightest
hint of grain. The flip cover is padded, and inside you'll find slots for two
expansion cards as well as credit cards. We received the NX series case, and the
WiFi card fits fine in one of the credit card slots and doesn't prevent the case
from closing. If you own an NX, note that you must remove the WiFi card from the
PDA's CF slot before closing the case. The iPAQ 3800/3900 series case has an
inner flap that acts as a buffer between the screen and any cards in the flip
cover. All cases feature contrasting over-stitching, inner pockets for cards and
a magnetic snap closure. They allow you to sync via cable while in the case, but
generally not by cradle. Most are available in black, red or gold (which looks
like light brown). It's easy to recommend these cases. For $50 you get an
expensive looking case that's protective without adding a lot of bulk to your
PDA. Ports are easy to access, and for units with "odd" speaker placement like
the Sony NX series, there's even a cutout over the speaker as well as a hole for
the rarely-needed reset button. The cases come in a plastic retail package, and
inside the plastic, there's a nice textured box with the Covertec logo and
"Leather Premium Case" written in script below. This certainly makes for a nice
gift box. www.covertec.com price: most are $39.95 US, plus shipping. The Zire

Hard Cases Dell Axim X5 leather flip case by PDair , Price: approx. $32.00 US By
Tony Peak, December 2003 Size & Fit Most Axim X5 users are used to bulk and
PDair's leather flip case is really no exception. With thick unflexible top and
bottom covers and two hard plastic holds in the center, it's quite large in size
with or without the Axim itself. It fits easily in a coat pocket or slacks, but
you'll never fit this into the pocket of jeans unless they're very loose. Like
the Axim itself however, this bulk may not be a bad thing for all users.
Personally I really like how it's completely solid even though it's leather, and
how sturdy it feels. Style The design of this case really intrigues me. Rather
than the standard leather hold and flip cover, it has two solid leather "plates"
of sorts that sandwich the Axim from the front and back to keep it safe. The
Axim itself is held in place by two plastic grips that grab it from the sides,
leaving the entire Axim completely open. I've always been a fan of the "naked"
feel you get when using a device without a case, and this is the first case I've
seen that can give that feeling. By supporting the device from the sides and
from the back, you get a completely open device. Features & Quality You might
think the Axim would be in danger of sliding out of the plastic holds, but it
feels quite secure and the leather strap and magnetic snap on the bottom help
insure it won't fall out while in your pocket. The magnets hold the metal snap
tight in the groove and makes for pretty easy but secure opening and closing.
It's a really nice touch. The top flips around easily out of the way during use,
and the solidness of the front and back feel like they'll both last a long time
and protect the device well. The plastic holds feel quite solid; I don't feel
they're in any danger of coming loose. The headphone jack is completely
unobscured by a large U shaped opening in the top. The top cover also has three
standard credit card pouches, and comes with a fabric insert with clear cover
for photo ID that rests on top the device. The only issue one might have is that
even though the sides are completely open, the record button and the soft reset
button are both blocked by the plastic holds. While it's a very simple matter to
slide the device up a bit and reset it, it's still a small hassle and you
couldn't do it while closed if you needed to. Also, I found the insert to be
very inconvenient and quite possibly easy to lose. Thank goodness it's simply an
optional insert and not built into the case itself. It rests in one of the
credit card slots and folds up and against the top flap nicely, but there's
nothing to hold it there. This means you have to flip it out of the way and
under your thumb every time you open the case. Summary So long as you don't mind
the size of the case, it's one very solid choice. If you like the Axim because
of its sturdiness and solid feel, this may be the type of case for you. It has a
nice hard leather feel without being as rigid and inflexible as a metal case. If
you like the feel of your device without leather cases surrounding it and
sometimes blocking the buttons, this case will be in your favor. It's a great
case for gamers as the back is very sturdy to hold and the design leaves the
device completely open. Personally, I think it's great. I use it over my soft
leather case whenever I have a jacket pocket that can hold it. Web Site:
www.pdair.com Case PDair Dell Axim X5 case 3 Cases for the Sony Clié TG50 by
PDair By Korey Marciniak, December 2003 PDAir offers a few different cases for
Sony's TG50, and in this review I'm going to look at three different case
options. I'll be looking at a black leather horizontal flip-type case, a black
leather vertical flip-type case, and a metal hard case. First off is the
horizontal flip-type, or book type case. From the first time I opened the
package I noticed it was a quality product. The TG50 snapped into the case
without any issues, and it fit well. The style of the case is simple, and uses a
magnetic snap closure on the right to keep it securely closed. Inside the case
there are a few different pockets for credit cards, business cards, and anything
else you may need to bring with you. Overall the case is solidly designed and
executed. It has a clean and understated look to it, and didn't stand out from
its surroundings as many of the gaudier cases do. The second case I tested out
is a vertical flip-type case, and it shares a similar design to the horizontal
flip-type case; this comes as a blessing, since it means this case possesses the
same fit and quality as it's horizontal compatriot. The TG50 snaps in the same
way, and uses the same magnetic snap closure to keep it closed. The vertical
flip-type case also has the same pockets as the horizontal version. I also
couldn't help but notice that the magnetic snap closure actually seems to be on
the wrong side. That's a minor compared to the plusses of the quality, style,
and fit of the case, but it's important to note it nonetheless. The third and
last case tested is a metallic hard case; It's a very different style from the
soft cases, but still retains the quality and fit as the others. Placing the
TG50 inside the hard case is a little more complex than the soft cases, and
requires removal of the flip cover. The case has all the necessary slots to
allow easy access to the TG50's buttons, and the look of the case suits the
styling of the TG50 perfectly. The cover included looks almost identical to the
TG50's original case sans the logo on it. Using the keyboard while in the case
is difficult at best, and it made me want to take the PDA out each time instead
of leaving it in the case. But that's a minor issue, and it is hard to find a
hard case that allows you to easily attach a keyboard. Overall I was most
impressed by the horizontal flip-type case; it's style, fit, and quality made it
easy to use on a regular basis. The vertical flip-type is a nice alternative,
but it doesn't offer any major advantages so it's really up to a personal
aesthetics decision. The three cases all possess attention to detail and solid
build quality, but some minor issues prevent them from being the perfect case
solution. Web Site: www.pdair.com Horizontal Case Leather Vertical Case PDair
